FAIR-EASE as the EOSC Winter School 2025
FAIR-EASE is delighted to be part of the EOSC Winter School 2025, taking place in Seville, Spain, from 20 to 23 January 2025. EOSC Winter School 2025 an in-person event aimed at fostering collaboration and convergence within the EOSC community. Organised by the EOSC Association with support from the EOSC Focus project and other HE EOSC-related initiatives, the event builds on the foundations laid during the first EOSC Winter School in Thessaloniki in 2024. The inaugural event successfully facilitated deeper technical understanding and effective engagement across various opportunity areas, and the 2025 gathering in Seville is set to further these efforts. By focusing on harmonising efforts and supporting the development of the EOSC Federation, the Winter School will provide a dynamic platform for stakeholders to engage, exchange ideas, and advance shared objectives.
The EOSC Winter School 2025 represents a crucial moment in the development of the EOSC ecosystem. Following the achievements of the Thessaloniki event, the focus will be on achieving convergence around the strategic priorities outlined in the EOSC Multi-Annual Roadmap (MAR) for 2026-2027. These priorities include sustaining and enhancing the EOSC Federation, fostering the adoption of FAIR data principles and artificial intelligence, ensuring research security and sovereignty, and establishing meaningful links with other European and global data spaces. By aligning the work of Opportunity Area Expert Groups and EOSC-A Task Forces with these strategic goals, the event aims to create a cohesive and forward-thinking approach to open science. The gathering will also revisit the medium- and long-term objectives defined in 2024, ensuring they remain impactful and aligned with the evolving needs of the EOSC Federation and its stakeholders.
FAIR-EASE Role at the EOSC Winter School 2025
The FAIR-EASE project’s representatives, including Marie Josse from CNRS, Jérôme Detoc from Ifremer, Alexandra Kokkinaki from the British Oceanographic Data Centre, Marc Portier from VLIZ, and Samuel Keuchkerian from CNRS, will contribute their expertise and insights to key workshops and collaborative sessions.
By disseminating the results of the FAIR-EASE project, particularly in relation to Opportunity Areas 2 and 4, the team aims to highlight advancements in the integration of FAIR data principles and the development of links with other European data spaces. Additionally, the FAIR-EASE representatives will actively engage with ongoing discussions about the EOSC Federation’s build-up phase, ensuring that the project’s contributions are fully aligned with broader EOSC goals.
Through its active participation, FAIR-EASE seeks to reinforce its commitment to the principles of open science and strengthen its role within the EOSC ecosystem. By sharing its outcomes and engaging in meaningful collaboration, FAIR-EASE aims to make a lasting impact on the development of the EOSC Federation. This event provides an invaluable opportunity to align the project’s work with the long-term vision for the EOSC, and the FAIR-EASE team looks forward to contributing to the success of the Winter School.
Join us in Seville to witness and participate in the exciting advancements being made in open science and the EOSC ecosystem.
